River Clean-Up

GC River Clean-Up, May 9th, 2010

For our annual community service event, the Goodrich Club embarked on canoes and kayaks to rid the local Kalamazoo River of garbage and recyclables. We felt the theme of sustainability would be appropriate given Albion College's recent green initiatives. This picture made the front page of the Albion Recorder!

Why Live At the GC?

Quoting a flyer advocating life in Goodrich vs. Dorm Life:

“Are you tired of paying for parking, paying for laundry, paying for a single, only having fish as pets, floor meetings, RA’s, health and safety inspections, no candles, no smoking, no incense, no halogen lamps, getting kicked out over breaks, not having 24 hour kitchen access, no fireplace, not being able to paint your room or put nails in the walls, having a roommate, and Baldwin meals?”

Anyone who has lived in the dormitories can undoubtedly relate…

Other benefits include:

·         Saving roughly $700 a semester compared to the dorms

·         Having a single (larger than dorm) room

·         Having Free Parking

·         Great Food

·         Lifelong Friends

Indeed, there are many reasons why we feel the cooperative arrangement at the Goodrich Club is inherently superior to living in a dorm setting.  Furthermore, unlike the dormitories and other Albion College living arrangements, the Club has given us a chance to transition into real life—through cooking and cleaning, paying our own bills, and other house projects and maintenance activities. Lastly, here at the Goodrich Club we feel we are part of something unique and special; it is amazing to reflect that the house we live in has been dwelt in and enjoyed by several generations over the years. The Goodrich Club has provided us an amazing opportunity to grow as young adults, and we are grateful.
